Aircraft: B747-400
Origin: SFO
Destination: NRT
Seat: 2K GlobalFirst
Scheduled Push Back: 11:20 AM
Actual Push Back: 11:20 AM

This is my first time in international first class so I was pretty excited. After reading so many blogs say how first class on US Airlines is a joke, my expectations were lowered which let United surpass them! Continue reading “Review: UA SFO-NRT GlobalFirst”

Review: SFO Centurion Lounge

American Express has a handful of lounges available for their platinum and centurion card members. Luckily one of these is in SFO and even better it’s in terminal 3 where United operates. Unlike DFW not all terminals at SFO are connected air side. So if you’re not departing from terminal 3 or international terminal G this lounge would be pretty inconvenient.  Continue reading “Review: SFO Centurion Lounge”

Review: UA SFO-EWR BusinessFirst

Date: Saturday August 6
Flight: 213
Aircraft: B757-200
Origin: SFO
Destination: EWR
Seat: 1E BusinessFirst
Scheduled Push Back: 3:50 PM
Actual Push Back: 3:51 PM

After two nights in my own bed I figure it’s time to fly out again. Unlike my inbound flight which was on a internationally configured 777, I’m on the traditional PS 757. I booked seat 1E as I’ve read the foot well is one of the larger ones. I’ve noticed some seats have narrow footwells which don’t even fit both my feet side-by-side.  Continue reading “Review: UA SFO-EWR BusinessFirst”

Seat: 9J BusinessFirst
Scheduled Push Back: 3:59 PM
Actual Push Back: 4:38 PM

As a corporate traveler you’re pretty much guaranteed to be flying the same routes consistently for a set period of time. Not only are the routes the same but even the departure time, and flight numbers are the same. Pretty exciting, right? Continue reading “Review: UA EWR-SFO BusinessFirst”

Review: EWR Terminal C Gate 74 United Club

There are two United Clubs in Terminal C. One near gate 74 and the other near gate 120. The club near gate 120 tends to be more crowded during peaks times in my experience. The club near gate 74 is basically a large circle with windows in the middle looking down on the concourse.  Continue reading “Review: EWR Terminal C Gate 74 United Club”

Review: Courtyard Parsippany

As a Marriott Platinum Premier I stay a lot of nights every year at various Marriott properties. Among all the Marriott brands Courtyard is probably my least favorite. I just don’t get the business model. Courtyard doesn’t offer complimentary breakfast for regular guest or Marriott Elites. However, when you travel for business you spend a lot of nights at Courtyards. These hotels tend to vary widely from property to property. The Courtyard Parsippany is one of the properties that have the newly designed rooms along with the new lobby look. It really grinds my gears when hotels advertise a newly renovated lobby but the rooms are the same old look. I rather have a nice room that a nice lobby I walk through twice a day going and coming from the parking lot.  Continue reading “Review: Courtyard Parsippany”

Review: UA SFO-EWR Economy

Date: Sunday July 17
Flight: UA414
Aircraft: B777-200
Origin: SFO
Destination: EWR
Seat: 29D Economy
Scheduled Push Back: 9:00 AM
Actual Push Back: 9:00 AM (OMG, On Time)

I lived my 1% dream on the flight out from EWR, now it’s time to go back to economy. Since I’m a United 1K, I do have access to Economy Plus (E+) at booking. E+ is nothing to write home about, but I’ll take any extra leg room I can get. I booked this flight specifically as it is operated on a pmUA 777 (version 1) which has two rows in E+ normally used for crew rest. When this plane operates domestic flights these seats are opened up for normal reservations. These seats are row 29 and 30, in the middle section (D, E, and G). Time to jump in and do my first flight review. Like I said in my first post, I fly coach 99% of the time. Well, this happens to be the 1% of the time where an upgrade cleared. Continue reading “Review: UA EWR-SFO BusinessFirst”
