Review: Courtyard Parsippany

As a Marriott Platinum Premier I stay a lot of nights every year at various Marriott properties. Among all the Marriott brands Courtyard is probably my least favorite. I just don’t get the business model. Courtyard doesn’t offer complimentary breakfast for regular guest or Marriott Elites. However, when you travel for business you spend a lot of nights at Courtyards. These hotels tend to vary widely from property to property. The Courtyard Parsippany is one of the properties that have the newly designed rooms along with the new lobby look. It really grinds my gears when hotels advertise a newly renovated lobby but the rooms are the same old look. I rather have a nice room that a nice lobby I walk through twice a day going and coming from the parking lot.

Normally all these hotels look the same. You open your room door and there is one large room with either a king or two queens. Upon checking in this week I was informed I would be getting an upgraded room for my stay. I was pretty surprised as upgrades are pretty far and few between with Marriott in general.

I had an idea of what to expect as I’ve been upgraded before. You open the room door to a small living area followed by a small separate bedroom. I don’t really need the extra space as I travel alone for business and am at the office all day, but the dedicated bedroom helps on cutting down noise from the hallway which is great. Upon walking into the room I was surprised at the actual size of this suite. The suite itself was larger than other upgrades I’ve received at Courtyard properties and even normal full service Marriott properties.

Upon opening the room door there was a large living area. The living area had a loveseat along with a chair. There was also the standard Marriott desk and TV furniture as well.

Right next to the room entrance was large counter top which had the mini fridge, microwave, and a sink.

Next to the living room counter top was a door which led to the bedroom and bathroom. There was a double sink bathroom vanity and the standard Courtyard bathroom.

The bedroom was pretty large for a suite. Normally the bedroom is slightly smaller in suites due to the extra walls and door that makes it more private (which is fine by me). However, the bedroom had another loveseat and chair to match the living room.

Survey Says

Overall this is a pretty sweet … suite. It is one of the bigger suites I’ve seen at any Marriott property. If you ever happen to be in the Parsippany, New Jersey area, this hotel is a decent option.
