Review: JAL HND-GMP Business Class

I was pretty excited to try JAL as I’ve heard good things. I don’t have any points or miles with Oneworld carriers so I transferred AMEX MR points to British Airways Avios during a 30% bonus. This flight typically is pretty expensive as it’s between the two popular close in airports popular with business travelers. Unfortunately, British Airways just increased the cost of redemption. I redeemed just 15,000 Avios (~12,000 AMEX MR with the 30% bonus) for this flight. However, the price has now gone up to 16,500 Avios.

We did mobile check in and quickly went though security and immigration then headed towards the lounge. Since I don’t have any Oneworld elite status today’s visit would just be in the business class section of the lounge. Our boarding passes were scanned and we walked left to the business class section. The first floor is primarily used for dining. During the morning there was several breakfast items.

There was ample seating around the buffet for enjoying your meal.

Upstairs featured seating for working and relaxing.

There were also scattered phone rooms on both floors with showers on the first floor as well.

We headed to the gate a few minutes before boarding started. Once boarding started business class was invited to board after top tier elites. We scanned our boarding pass and walked down the jet bridge. The cabin is a reverse herringbone layout which is pretty nice for a quick regional flight. The seat had a pillow and slippers along with the menu.

The seat had the standard entertainment controls, USB plug, and a tray table that folded down from the side.

The menu only had one option. It seemed to rotate based on the week. Luckily it was eggs this week.

Service began with a hot towel, drink, and some rice crackers.

The only meal option was served on one tray.

After breakfast trays were collected and I finished watching White Gold season 2 on Netflix. Before you know it we were begining our decent into Gimpo.

Survey Says

I was impressed with the lounge and flight. The lounge had all the requirements. Food, drinks, wifi, and a place to sit and work before your flight. The flight crew were nice and always had a smile. It’s odd that there is only one option for food. However, the food was decent and the seats were great. This was a great use of Avios!
