Originally we were set to fly SIN-DEL-AMD on an Air India award ticket in business class. However, Air India canceled the DEL-AMD leg and I looked for other options. Enter Vistara. This is an airline that currently only flies domestic in India from their hub in New Delhi. The airline is a JV between Tata and Singapore Airlines.
Upon check in we were told the Vistara lounge was located near gate 41. We headed there after security. It seems there is a theme in the New Delhi airport where lounges are basically what United calls a popup lounge. However, they are permanent (but I guess the popup in EWR also is). Essentially these lounges are fairly small and there is noise from the terminal. Upon walking up to the gate 41 area we saw the Vistara lounge.
We provided our boarding passes to the desk agent who just looked at it and handed it back. No scanning here. The lounge has three private rooms. Two seems to be on a first come first serve basis while the third is reserved.
There is the main seating area which has several chairs all in a similar seating style. Each chair has electric and USB ports which is nice.
There is a small dining area, buffet, and bar.
The buffet consisted of several Indian dishes, fruit, salad, and pre-packaged sandwiches.
Around 4 PM all the hot dishes were taken away. In it’s place was two new hot dishes that were small bites along with tea and cookies.
This is Vistaras flagship lounge but looks like a temporary structure. However, the lounge never got crowded. Additionally, the food was better than other options such as the Plaza Premium Lounge which is an overrun Priority Pass lounge.
