I was pretty excited to try Cathay Pacific First Class for the first time. I got a teaser of the First Class seat on my inbound flight from SGN. I already knew the seat was wide and comfortable. I spent a few hours the The Pier which was a nice lounge.

Review: CX The Pier First Class Lounge
I’ve been pretty excited to check out Cathay Pacifics First Class Lounges. Based on my limited research are two main First Class lounges. The Wing has cabanas (enclosed suite with a day bed) and a Champagne bar. However, The Pier has recently-ish been remodeled and looks stunning. I decided to check out The Pier.
Review: Hong Kong Sky City Marriott
I had an overnight layover and was looking to get some proper rest before my Cathay Pacific First Class flight to ORD. I booked this Marriott for ~150 USD which didn’t seem to bad. While not attached to the airport there is a free shuttle that runs every half hour that drives the shirt drive between the airport and the hotel.
Review: CX BusinessFirst SGN-HKG
On December 31, 2018 I was browsing my news feed when I saw all these deal alerts for Cathay Pacific First Class from Vietnam to the USA round trip. Some fares were right below 1,000 while others were a tad more expensive. By the time I hopped on this I wound up booking SGN to ORD for ~1,200 round trip. I was pretty excited to try Cathay Pacific First Class. To position to SGN I booked Korean Airlines First Class (previous flight and lounge reviews). Korean Airlines is actually scaling back their First Class which is sad to hear (but not surprising). While Korean Airlines First Class isn’t a leading product it was good and easily available via points.
Review: HKG Plaza Premium First Lounge
I had a long layover at HKG and was walking all over the airport. I went to the AMEX lounge for a bit which is one of the better options. Then I went to the Singapore SilverKris lounge which is decent but nothing to write home about. As I was walking around I noticed the Plaza Premium First Lounge.
Review: SQ SIN-HKG Suites Class
I was pretty excited when I booked the old suites class from SYD-SIN, but also getting to experience the new suites class on SIN-HKG was a welcome surprise. I was originally booked on the old suites but due to an aircraft swap I was downgraded to business on an A350 (which I’ve flown on IAH-MAN). At the time I was put on the wait list for this flight but it didn’t seem promising. I called up and again explained the downgrade situation and the representative confirmed me in suites!
Review: TG HKG-BKK Business
In classic Thai fashion nothing is announced or on time. Boarding was scheduled to begin at 12:05 PM. However, boarding actually began at 12:30 PM.
Review: UA Club HKG
I left the near by AMEX Centurion lounge to check out the United Club. I’ve been here before and thought it was one of the better United Club locations. While it may not be up to international airline standards, it is one of the better Star Alliance options in HKG from what I’ve seen.
Review: AMEX HKG Centurion Lounge
I showed up to HKG early to explore the lounges here. The new AMEX Centurion lounge is located in the same area as the United Club, THAI Lounge, and some Plaza Premium Lounges. I was a bit nervous as all the Centurion lounges in the US seem to be uncomfortably crowded. I walked towards the lounge and saw the blue doors and American Express logo.

The day has finally come! I am flying Singapore Airlines first class. Some caveats is I’ll be flying first class and not suites class. Suites class is what is flown on the A380. The only route that has this to and from the US is JFK-FRA to my knowledge. Another caveat is due to the late departure the service is classified as supper opposed to dinner. I’ve read that supper is an abbreviated service and for example, doesn’t include a caviar service (I ain’t mad). With that out of the way, lets begin!
